While for spring and summer events we tend to choose raffia, tulle, and linen headpieces due to their composition and lightness in higher temperatures, in autumn and winter we tend to opt for felt, silk, or velvet headpieces.
If you're invited to or organizing an event in winter and want to wear a unique headpiece, the best thing to do is make it yourself. You only need to follow these steps:
1- The first thing you need is a comfortable hair fastener. It will also depend on the size of the headpiece you want. For this, you can use clips, headbands, or barrettes.
2- The base of the headpiece should be thick; depending on the thickness of the felt, the appliqués you want to mount later will have more support. Cut it to the appropriate size by first creating a template. Secure the felt to the base.
3- Add the selected felt appliqués.
4- To give it a more personal and distinctive touch, combine it with feathers, wooden elements, or crystals.
5- You can also combine it with a hairnet.
When choosing colors, we recommend light colors for brunettes. These will make them stand out much more. If, on the other hand, you are blonde, darker colors will suit you better.
You also need to consider the amount of hair you have. If you have fine hair and wear a very voluminous felt headpiece, or one of another type, you won't be comfortable.
Also, we want to give you a tip for everyday wear. We advise against wearing wide-brimmed hats in late autumn and winter; in these seasons, hats or felt or velvet headpieces will provide warmth on colder days and give us a more chic look.
