Silk flowers are the perfect detail for your fascinators, so today we are going to give you some guidelines to encourage you to create your own flowers.
For some years now, the handmade trend has been booming. And if we talk about the term DIY (do it yourself), it will not be unfamiliar to you. I believe that when it comes to silk flowers, there is a great field to develop in a very creative way, not only to make flowers for your fascinators, but also brooches for mothers of the bride or guests, giving them a sophisticated touch; but without a doubt, to customize your clothes with thousands of mini-flowers that are so fashionable. Many designers are joining this beautiful trend of embroidering flowers on their dresses and honestly, I have to admit that I love it!
There are many ways to make silk flowers, with dies, lighters, and burins, and you can find beautiful patterns online.
Today we are going to talk about two of them:
The easiest and quickest way to make silk or fabric flowers is with Dies. These are small metal plates with the positive and negative of our flower. You just have to heat the plates with a heat source such as an electric hot plate. Once hot, place your fabric between the two plates and press for a few seconds. Once all the layers you need are marked, you just have to cut and join them.
With a Lighter it's an easy and quick way to make your flowers. You just have to cut circles with different diameters or cut flower patterns also in different sizes and bring the lighter with a small flame close to the edges of our different layers, just enough to make them curl, but not burn. After this, you just have to join the layers.
Perhaps the most complex technique, but at the same time the most versatile with endless possibilities, is with burins, so today I will only introduce you to the tools and our Flower Course.
