Fascinators with netting may seem a bit old-fashioned; it is said that their origin dates back to the Middle Ages. However, in 2019, you will see netting much more often at all kinds of social events where guests are expected to adhere to a certain dress code.
Philip Treacy, the king of fascinators, has presented his fascinator collection for spring 2019. If you have a wedding, a communion, or an elegant event, you can draw inspiration from his designs to add a glamorous and sophisticated touch to your look. According to the Irish designer, any look will come alive if we adorn our hairstyle with a netted fascinator. Treacy has focused on nude, black, purple, and bougainvillea tones for the colors of the fascinators in his collection for this spring.
We already saw at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding that a large number of their guests wore netting in their fascinators, and Philip Treacy was responsible for adding his personal touch to each of these headpieces. At the wedding, the netted fascinators of Amal Clooney, Lady Kitty Spencer, and Victoria Beckham stood out.
From Tocados y Abalorios, today we bring you a tutorial to design your personalized netted fascinator. The white or black net with feathers, flowers, or pearls are ideal for any event.
- First, you must cut an oval-shaped piece of buckram fabric. The oval cannot be more than 10 cm long and 5 cm wide.
- Once you have the oval, bend a wire and cover the entire edge of the fabric. Sew a piece of fabric over the wire so it is not visible.
- Once you have finished sewing and covering the wire, sew a hair comb to the base of the oval. This comb will be inserted into the hairstyle to hold the fascinator.
- When you have the comb sewn to the base, you must use the netting, which you can purchase from our catalog. The netting must have rounded corners.
- When you have rounded the corners of the veil, you must sew it to the oval-shaped fabric you made previously. The veil must be sewn to suit individual taste, always trying to combine it with the look.
If crafts are not your thing, you can always buy a headband with incorporated netting in our shop, for only €8.95.
